Why is automation important for my business?

Automation is a very important strategy that will help you be more efficient. But when talking about it, not many people really understand what it is about.

Automation is not just about automating emails. This is a very common mistake. It goes beyond that. You can automate many other things you probably hadn’t thought of. It is a multichannel strategy that includes marketing, e-commerce, social media, email marketing, and content marketing, among others.

According to Marketo “Automation is a category of software that streamlines, automates, and measures marketing tasks and workflows so that companies like yours can increase operational efficiency and grow revenue faster.” (Marketo).

With this strategy we are looking to build a relationship with our prospects for the long-term. This will naturally translate into sales, but sales are the consequence of a well applied multichannel and multi-device strategy where you add value to your prospects.

Marketing automation has many benefits:

  • It reduces costs since it allows you to be more efficient in certain tasks.
  • You can have more control over your marketing goals and have a detailed follow up of their impact.
  • It’s a friendly user tool.
  • It allows you to build a long-term relationship with your prospects.
  • It makes it easier for you to send targeted messages.
  • It allows you to have a broader view of your audience preferences, interests and goals, segmenting them better and making it easier for you to personalize your messages.

Always keep in mind that it is not all about you and the message shouldn’t always be “I’m awesome. Buy my product.” Focus on what your audience wants and be empathic. Care for them and send them messages they will love. This way you will be focusing on ways to pull your audience closer to your brand. Marketing automation is all about that. Targeting the right users, with the right message at the right time.

To be able to make good use of this strategy, always take into consideration that you need solid foundations and knowledge of content marketing, branding and analytics.
